DIY Jeweled Sandals

Design Life Diaries: DIY Jeweled Sandals

Over the past few months, I've been seeing really pretty jeweled sandals in stores and online. Not willing to pay the hefty retail price tag, I decided to make a pair of my own. I've been a little under the weather this week, so it seemed like the perfect time to put on my comfiest pj's and go for it.

My original inspiration came from these cute JCrew sandals on the left. Unfortunately, not only were they a little more than I wanted to spend, but they were also sold out. (Which is probably a good thing so I didn't cave and buy them anyway!)

Bridal Accessories

Design Life Diaries: Bridal Accessories #bridal

Welcome to my design room! Today I thought I'd share a recent project I've been working on with you. I love all things sparkly and beautiful, so bridal accessories were a natural fit for me. This might be my favorite niche market!

The creative process is so fun, I can spend hours upon hours testing out different ideas and designs until I find the perfect look. I love to get as unique and exciting as possible, which means there is a lot of behind the scenes problem solving with structure and technical design. Luckily that's one of my specialties!

Dress Up an Accent Wall

Design Life Diaries: Dress up an Accent Wall

I’m a fan of the decorated, lived-in home look. Anyone who has ever been in my house can assure you it’s filled with lots of furniture, tons of frames on the walls, and plants and flowers. The modern look is nice, but I prefer a home with lots of natural charm.

The Re-do to my Re-do

Design Life Diaires: Dresser Makeover #ikeahack

I absolutely LOVE a good re-do project. The opportunity to see potential in something old, or in this case raw and boring, and turn it into a completely customized piece is so much fun. Whether it’s a dress that needs some added lace or a flea market find that you can maneuver into a cool lighting piece- it’s all about creativity!!

Easy Valentines Day Cards

Let's face it. I'm a scrapbook hoarder. I've been building by stash since the 2nd grade when scrapbooking was at it's height of popularity. Scrapbook parties anyone? I used to sit for hours and hours perfecting each page in the same time it took my friends to finish five to ten pages. Needless to say, I didn't blow through my stash as quickly as I was accumulating it.

Bridesmaid Dress Challenge

Design Life Diaries: Bridesmaid Dress Challenge #design #wedding #shabbychic

Most people view picking out the perfect wedding dress as the ultimate wedding planning challenge. For me, deciding on a bridesmaid dress for my besties turned out to be even harder than picking my own wedding gown! The girls were already traveling from Michigan, Ohio, and North Carolina all the way to Cali to support me and Chris on our big day. The last thing I wanted to do was ask them to shell out a few hundred bucks for a bridesmaid dress they may never wear again. The problem with finding an affordable dress was that there were barely any options, and most of them looked very cookie-cutter or cheap.
